Becoming A Proofreader teaches you the essential skills to be a professional wordsmith. You’ll learn how to fix common spelling, grammar and punctuation mistakes. We discuss different styles to ensure that proofreading reflects its intended audience and purpose. We’ll also explain the basics of Microsoft Word so that you can apply these newfound techniques

Becoming An Editor takes your skills to the next level. We’ll cover the difference between developmental, line and copy editing. Next, we’ll look at how to apply these principles according to structure, content and style. And we’ll thoroughly analyse the different editing types: academic, business and creative.

Both courses can be bought separately, but you’ll save money if you buy them as a bundle. And you can save 15% by purchasing both courses together!

Becoming A Proofreader gives you the skills and confidence to work on professional proofreading assignments. Becoming An Editor will show you how to work on more exciting, challenging projects. As well as proofreading, you’ll be able to tackle developmental editing and specialise in areas like academic, business or creative writing.

Passing Becoming A Proofreader with a distinction grade gets you started with Proofed. A distinction grade in Becoming A Proofreader and a passing grade in Becoming An Editor will expand your opportunities. As well as quick access to a broader range of work opportunities, you’ll also enjoy a higher rate of pay for many documents!

Our Becoming A Proofreader and Becoming An Editor courses are yours for life. Both courses are self-paced, and there’s no time limit meaning that you can access the training at a time that works best for you. This gives you complete control over your education.

After passing our Becoming A Proofreader course with a distinction grade, you’ll begin a paid trial period with Proofed, where you’ll work on up to 20 documents. After successfully completing the trial, you’ll be able to proofread longer documents on a fantastic variety of subjects, from quick thousand-word introductions to lengthy dissertations. You’ll help everyone from students and academics, to business clients and authors.

Passing Becoming A Proofreader with a distinction and Becoming An Editor with a passing grade means you’ll work on more complex documents with Proofed. This could be one-off documents or work with a regular client on short- or long-term projects.

As a professional proofreader or editor, the world’s your oyster. You don’t have to work exclusively with Proofed. Be your own boss and set your hours. Or find your own clients and maybe start an editorial business.

All you’ll need is a computer (PC or Mac), an internet connection and Microsoft Word (2016 or later).

A key benefit of proofreading and editing is that it’s location independent – you can work from anywhere in the world!
